Job summary

The Wake County Public School System seeks a Special Education Teacher to coordinate and provide direct instructional programs for students with IEPs in Raleigh, NC. The role emphasizes confidentiality and collaboration with staff, families, and community partners.

Required are a Bachelor’s degree and NC Professional Educator’s License in Exceptional Children; First Aid/CPR and CPI are preferred. You will develop IEPs, implement specialized instruction, monitor progress, and participate in IEP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Hold or be eligible for NC Professional Educator’s License in Exceptional Children.
• Must hold a valid NC driver’s license.
• Preferred: First Aid and CPR certifications; CPI certification.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; implements the IEP; uses diagnostic information to update IEPs as needed.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools to provide specially designed instruction.
• Assists students in completing the curriculum tasks and to complete IEP goals.
• Employs various teaching methods, strategies, accommodations and modifications to meet student needs.
• Monitors student behavior; maintains classroom discipline; deescalates inappropriate behaviors; teaches students appropriate behavioral strategies.
• Evaluates student’s work and progress; adjust instruction as needed and coordinate progress report grades.
• Attends IEP meetings and collaborates as part of the team.
• Stays current on trends and best practices by attending professional development.
