Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in an Exceptional Children’s teaching area.
• Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to NC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; implements the IEP and uses diagnostic information to update IEPs as needed.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools for specially designed instruction.
• Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and achieving IEP goals.
• Employs varied teaching methods, accommodations, and modifications to meet student needs and adapts materials as needed.
• Monitors student behavior, maintains classroom discipline, deescalates inappropriate behaviors, teaches behavioral strategies.
• Evaluates student work and tracks progress, coordinates grades and report cards.
• Attends IEP meetings and collaborates with team members.
• Stays current on trends and best practices through professional development and collaboration.
