Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks a dedicated special education professional to coordinate and provide instructional programs for students with disabilities under IEPs. This role requires strong collaboration with school teams, development and implementation of IEPs, and adherence to FERPA and related laws.

The position focuses on delivering specially designed instruction, monitoring progress, and maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment across classrooms and offices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to NC requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develops IEPs for students with disabilities and uses diagnostic information to update IEPs.
  • Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools for specially designed instruction.
  • Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and meeting IEP goals.
  • Uses a variety of teaching methods and materials to meet student needs and adapts as needed.
  • Monitors student behavior, maintains classroom discipline, and teaches behavioral strategies.
  • Evaluates student work and coordinates progress report grades and report cards.
  • Attends IEP meetings as a collaborative team member.
  • Keeps abreast of trends and best practices through professional development and collaboration.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
