Job summary

Highland Place Rehab and Nursing is seeking a licensed physical therapist to plan and administer prescribed treatments, evaluate referrals, and coordinate care with physicians to restore function and relieve pain. This role includes supervising assistants, training students, and ensuring accurate documentation for reimbursement.

The position requires licensure, prior PT experience preferred, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Credentialed graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program and licensed in the state where practicing.
• Prior experience in physical therapy preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 10 pounds.
• Travel within a local area as needed for patient treatment.
• Ability to work indoors with exposure to some disagreeable conditions.
• Communicate effectively with residents, other therapy staff, and facility staff.
• Must be capable of executing all terms and conditions set forth in the Employee Handbook, including but not limited to safety and compliance policies.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate physician referrals and patient/resident medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required.
• Plan and prepare written treatment program based on evaluation of available patient/resident data.
• Confer with physician and other health practitioners to obtain additional patient/resident information and integrate therapy with care.
• Record patient/resident treatment, response, and progress.
• Assist in planning of physical therapy services and supervising staff as needed.
• Supervise physical therapy assistants and aides; may instruct and supervise clinical training for PT/PTA students.
• Administer manual therapeutic exercises to improve or maintain muscle function and guide movements.
• Perform tests and measurements (ROM, gait analysis, functional activities) and record findings to adapt treatment.
• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in non-manual exercises and aid devices.
• Maintain documentation for third-party reimbursement and participate in department meetings and policy updates.
• Conduct on-the-job training and assist in recruitment as needed.
• Participate in department budget planning and development of department policies.
