Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking staff to support patient care in a fast-paced environment. You will assist with activities of daily living, transport patients, perform basic phlebotomy, monitor vital signs, and help prepare patients for exams and procedures under RN guidance.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and compassionate service in direct patient care, with training provided for required certifications and infection control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.
• Demonstrates competency in safe patient handling and infection prevention.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care to promote comfort under RN supervision.
• Help patients with activities of daily living and bed making.
• Safely transport patients and escort for tests or discharge.
• Performs basic phlebotomy and glucose monitoring per policy.
• Record vital signs and intake/output as assigned.
• Support physicians and RNs during examinations and procedures.
