Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown is seeking a patient transport associate to support the patient care team. The role involves transporting patients to testing areas and other departments, caring for their belongings, and ensuring safe handling of oxygen and devices.

Shifts are Day, 10:00am - 6:30pm with rotating holidays and weekends; scheduled weekly hours 40. Must complete HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Obtain certification in HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.
• West Virginia state criminal background check required, and Federal, if applicable, for DHHR BMS regulated area.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients or items safely to the appropriate departments within WVU campuses.
• Greets patients, identifies self, and assists in preparing for transport.
• Monitors patient conditions and intervenes to ensure safety during transport.
• Transports patients with oxygen, including handling and storage.
• Reports patient concerns to the RN and communicates return after transport.
• Disinfects wheelchairs and stretchers after use.
• Transports patients and belongings to discharge vehicles.
• Uses patient transport dispatching system per guidelines.
• Maintains oxygen tank levels daily.
• Positions wheelchairs and stretchers back to origin.
