Job summary

Liberty FCU is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join the lending team in the Jacksonville, FL area. The role focuses on self-generated business development, loan interviews, and credit evaluation to structure suitable residential mortgage loans.

The candidate should have 2–3 years of mortgage origination experience, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of loan products and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of mortgage origination experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills to discuss loan details with clients.
• Strong mathematical and statistical analysis ability.
• Solid knowledge of terms and conditions of varying loans.
• Strong logical thinking.
• Ability to stay updated on loan reforms and laws.
• Ability to obtain federal registration/NMLS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct loan interviews, discuss programs, explain processes, and request documents for approval.
• Evaluate credit of prospective borrowers for qualification.
• Pursue leads and contact prospective borrower leads via phone, email or in person.
• Evaluate borrowers' financial status to propose appropriate residential mortgage loans.
• Understand and apply Federal and NCUA regulations related to mortgage lending.
• Make sales calls with borrowers to explain options and help decisions.
• Maintain knowledge of loan products, processing, and underwriting guidelines.
• Prospect and network with realtors, builders and referral partners.
