Job summary

CommuniCare is seeking a Medical Assistant to support both front and back office operations in a clinical setting. Responsibilities include assisting with day-to-day duties, coordinating referrals, performing basic patient care tasks, and maintaining patient records and insurance details.

The role requires at least a high school diploma, 1 year of MA experience or MA certification, and BLS; EMR/EHR experience and primary care exposure are preferred. Travel to other clinic sites may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year of Medical Assistant experience or a Medical Assistant certification/diploma.
• EMR/EHR experience preferred.
• Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable with personal computers.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.
• Scheduled hours/locations may change.

Responsibilities

• Assists with day-to-day operations of front and back office, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Coordinates referrals and patient communications.
• Administers injections and supports non-invasive patient care procedures (e.g., EKGs, screenings).
• Obtains patient history and vital signs, documents quality metrics for regulatory compliance.
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies and ensures equipment is calibrated and stocked.
• Registers patients, updates demographics, verifies insurance, and posts encounter data.
• Performs end-of-day reconciliations and secures daily cash deposits.
• Prepares for next day by scheduling appointments and pre-registering patients.
• Provides exceptional customer service and supports other departments as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
