Job summary

Roanoke County, VA is seeking staff to perform recreational and clerical work for children and youth at assigned locations. You will organize and schedule activities for ages 5–12 and 11–13, including games, music, arts and crafts, and collect fees.

The role requires supervising activities to ensure safety and a positive, age-appropriate approach to behavior. Hours are Monday–Friday, 1:45–6:00pm (21.25 hours weekly).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with college courses or six months’ programmatic experience with children 5–12 and/or 11–13 preferred.
• Some experience working with children in a structured environment preferred.
• Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license and current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certificates or obtain them after employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and participate in games, music, arts and crafts, playground and other activities.
• Supervise all activities to ensure safety of participants.
• Collect fees as applicable.
• Provide positive, age-appropriate guidance and establish classroom community rules.
• Encourage children to take responsibility and participate actively in activities.
