Job summary

Roanoke County, VA is seeking a part-time childcare and recreation aide to work Monday through Friday from 1:45 PM to 6:00 PM. The role supports planning and participating in activities for ages 5–12, with emphasis on safety and positive behavior guidance at an assigned location.

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain after hire. Pre-employment training and background checks are completed as part of the process.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Some experience working with children in a structured environment.
• Have and maintain a Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification or obtain it after hire.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain program rules.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and actively participate in activities including games, music, arts, crafts, and playground activities.
• Observe all activities to ensure the protection and safety of participants.
• Provide a positive and authoritative approach to guiding behavior with age-appropriate limits.
• Encourage children to take responsibility for their role in the classroom community.
