Job summary

MaST Community Charter School III is seeking a Special Education Teacher for 6th grade in Philadelphia, PA. The role reports to the CEO and local administration within the MaST Schools Network.

A valid PA teaching certificate and comprehensive IEP experience are required. The teacher will develop and modify curricula, deliver individualized instruction, collaborate with general education staff, and document student progress.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Education.
• Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate in appropriate content area.
• Knowledge of curriculum design, training, and instruction.
• Strong understanding of special education law and IEPs.
• Ability to write comprehensive goals and assess progress.
• Knowledge of Common Core and PA Standards.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Proficient with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction and investigation.
• Instruct students individually and in groups using varied methods.
• Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs and interests.
• Establish rules for behavior and maintain classroom order.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and progress.
• Maintain accurate student records and assignments on class websites.
• Prepare, administer, and grade assessments to measure progress.
• Confer with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to address issues.
• Ensure compliance with IEPs and assistive technology access.
• Lead IEP meetings and coordinate with general education teachers.
• Plan lessons integrating technology and STREAM concepts.
• Collaborate with staff to schedule lessons and share progress.
• Meet with parents to discuss progress and priorities.
