Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field.
• PA Department of Education Special Education teaching certificate.
• Minimum 3 years teaching experience in SPED.
• Excellent oral and written communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of IDEA; ability to write and implement IEPs and accommodations.
• Background checks and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with administrators and staff to provide support and strategies for the learning community.
• Inform Head of Special Education of anticipated/actual IEP-related financial needs.
• Serve as LEA for IEP meetings with staff and parents, ensuring proper paperwork and signatures.
• Provide training and technical assistance on case management and IEP processes.
• Work with paraprofessionals and staff to develop professional development goals.
• Support planning and implementation of special education initiatives and best practices.
• Communicate the special education process to parents and guardians, including rights under IDEA.
• Stay informed of legal requirements governing special education.
• Collaborate with outside agencies to support individual students.
• Attend professional meetings and conferences to maintain competency.
