Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking a Teacher Dual Language at Legacy Middle School to implement district curriculum and improve academic achievement for all students. The role focuses on bilingual/multilingual instruction and ESL support within a 184-day calendar.

You will collaborate with teachers, families, and administrators, administer ELL testing, and drive instruction with data-informed decisions. A PEL and bilingual endorsement are required or near-certified options may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related subject from an accredited university.
• PEL with Elementary or Early Childhood endorsement and a Bilingual Education Teacher-Spanish endorsement; OR
• PEL with Elementary or Early Childhood endorsement and an Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) with a Transitional Bilingual Educator (TBE) endorsement in Bilingual Education Teacher-Spanish.
• Teaching experience is preferred but not necessary for hiring.
• Experience in at least one of the grade levels of a multi-grade is preferred.
• Recent experience in the sought position is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that follows district guidelines and meets the individual needs of students.
• Implements research-based teaching strategies that engage all students from diverse backgrounds.
• Creates an environment conducive to learning with effective communication and evaluative feedback.
• Implements current district curriculum and subject matter that is grade-level appropriate.
• Plans for and guides learning toward mastery of curriculum goals with clear objectives.
• Implements school improvement plans and strategies.
• Collaborates with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
• Implements formative and summative assessments to drive instruction and communicates progress to students and parents.
• Administers ELL testing (ACCESS and/or required testing for ELL students).
• Sets high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
• Assists in referral and diagnosis of students with learning difficulties.
• Works with building principal to assess teaching strengths/weaknesses and plan improvements.
• Participates on curriculum, personnel, policy or professional development committees.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Assists administration in implementing student discipline policies.
