Job summary

New Hope Community in Loch Sheldrake, NY, is seeking a Direct Support Professional I (DSP-I) to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their home on our campus. You will support daily routines, foster independence, and promote dignity and purpose.

You’ll receive hands-on training, work with an interdisciplinary team, and have opportunities for advancement within the agency. Shift options include day and night coverage, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to meet OPWDD training requirements.
• Valid NY Driver's License and clean driving record.
• CPR, First Aid, SCIP, and Medication Administration Certification preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with daily routines, personal care, meals, and community participation.
• Encourage choice, independence, skill-building, and personal goals.
• Assist with health, safety, behavioral, and medication supports after required training and certification.
• Document services accurately and communicate changes or concerns promptly.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, clinicians, therapists, managers, families, and fellow DSPs.
