Job summary

ICL seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide hands-on care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential program in Brooklyn, NY. You will help with daily living, personal care, health routines, and community participation, promoting independence and dignity.

The role emphasizes teamwork with clinical staff and families, documentation of progress, and adherence to safety and program procedures.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; OR
Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate from an accredited organization.

Responsibilities

Assist adults with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, dressing, and daily living activities.
Support medication administration and health-related routines; accompany to medical appointments.
Monitor health concerns, document progress toward goals.
Teach meal planning, food preparation, and healthy nutrition habits.
Assist with housekeeping, laundry, safe living environments, and organization.
Support fire safety and emergency preparedness.
Develop communication, social, vocational, and independent living skills.
Help participation in recreational, educational, cultural, and community activities.
Promote self-advocacy, relationships, and community inclusion.
Assist with transportation and mobility activities; maintain records and report progress.
Collaborate with supervisors, families, and staff to ensure quality care.
