Job summary

Kimley-Horn's West Palm Beach office is seeking an Engineer-in-Training with 1+ year of civil/related engineering experience to support electric and communications distribution projects in the Dry Utilities team. This full-time, on-site role offers mentorship and exposure to project planning, design, and permitting.

You will use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS Pro to prepare deliverables, coordinate with developers, utilities, and regulatory agencies, and contribute to meeting deadlines and

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience with a civil engineering design firm.
• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Engineer‑In‑Training or Engineering Intern certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a plus.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly.
• Strong sense of urgency, detail orientation, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Work on a variety of projects including undergrounding overhead utilities and coordinating service for new developments.
• Assist with project planning, design, permitting, and construction administration.
• Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS Pro to analyze, produce, and review deliverables.
• Attend meetings and communicate with clients, government entities, and regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to project success.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules; support mentorship and training.
• Perform a variety of engineering tasks and gain exposure to plan production and client interaction.
