Quanex is seeking a Drop Mill Operator to cool, properly mix and process compounds through the mill within specified limits. The role supports overnight operations and involves maintaining quality control, safety, and equipment cleanliness.

You will work in a dynamic team environment with opportunities for growth and development. The position offers a competitive hourly rate of $18 with a $1.00 shift premium for the 2nd and/or 3rd shifts, plus benefits and a strong culture.

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• High School or GED preferred.
• Willing to work overtime including weekends.
• Close visual work required.
• Knowledge of general computer skills.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Operate the drop mill to cool, mix and process compounds within specifications.
• Monitor production output and quality control measures.
• Identify issues with the product or process and report them.
• Ensure belts, pans, and knives are cleaned between compounds.
• Follow safety procedures and update procedures as needed.
• Operate a forklift when required.

What Success Looks Like

• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Necessity for attention to detail.
• The ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Capable of maintaining quality control by monitoring production output.
• Ability to identify any issues with the product or process.
• Correctly identifying the correct batch is being milled.
• Ensure belts, pans, and knives are always cleaned between compounds.
• Following all safety procedures and guidelines along with assisting in modifying and updating procedures
• Operating a forklift for various functions.
