Job summary

The Peer Youth Counselor at the Prince George’s County Drop-In Center provides services to adolescents and young adults affected by homelessness, including case management support, outreach, crisis transportation, and life skills education.

You will work with the Center Director and partner agencies to meet acute and long-term needs, coordinating services, meals, hygiene, and recreation while maintaining confidentiality and trauma-informed care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to learn harm reduction and trauma-informed care.
• Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus; experience with diverse populations a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate supportive services with the team.
• Provide meals, hygiene products, showers, and access to resources.
• Assist with intake and orientation for new clients.
• Provide crisis intervention and individual counseling.
• Support harm reduction and trauma-informed interventions.
• Engage youth using positive youth development principles.
• Assist with site events and wellness activities.
• Maintain client confidentiality and accurate case notes.
