Job summary

Savage in Elko, NV is seeking a Driving Specialist to join our safety‑focused team. You will conduct ride‑alongs, train drivers, monitor permits, and coordinate with dispatchers to review ride‑alongs.

You will mentor drivers and ensure regulatory compliance while promoting fuel efficiency and reduced risk. Must hold a Class A CDL with 5+ years LCV experience and hazmat endorsement; strong mentoring, communication, and scheduling skills; travel 30–50% is required.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL with 5+ years Long Combination Vehicle experience (doubles/triples) and hazmat endorsement.
• Strong mentoring, training and communication skills.
• Ability to build trust with drivers and managers.
• Experience driving in varied weather with emphasis on safety.
• Willingness to travel 30–50% and work day/night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ride-alongs with drivers to coach for safety and performance.
• Evaluate new team members with DOT pre-hire ride-alongs.
• Monitor and track permits for regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with dispatchers, drivers, and operations to schedule ride-alongs.
• Train, evaluate, and re-certify drivers on the SPACE program.
• Promote safety systems and efficiency improvements.
• Support drivers on day and night shifts and track progress.
• Audit training paperwork for 100% compliance.
