Job summary

Savage Services in Elko, NV is hiring a Driving Specialist to coach and train drivers, conduct ride-alongs, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. You will partner with dispatch and operations to schedule ride-alongs and certify drivers under the SPACE program.

The role requires a Class A CDL with 5+ years of LCV experience, strong safety knowledge, and the ability to travel 30–50% across operations. Proficiency with Geotab, Netradyne, and MS Office is preferred.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL required with 5+ years of Long Combination Vehicle experience (doubles/triples hazmat endorsement)
• Strong safe driving record and knowledge of best practices and fuel economy
• Experience driving in all weather conditions with focus on safety
• Willingness to mentor, train, and communicate effectively with drivers/managers
• Ability to build trust and relationships with drivers and managers
• Willingness to work day and night shifts; occasional weekends
• Ability to travel 30–50% across operations
• Comfortable with technology (Outlook, Excel, Word, Geotab, Netradyne)
• Preferred: Savage Team Member experience, Safety Specialist status, MSHA/HazMat certifications (or willingness to obtain)
• Self-motivated with strong planning and scheduling skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct ride-alongs with drivers to observe, coach, and train for safety and performance
• Evaluate new team members with DOT pre-hire ride-alongs
• Monitor and track permits for regulatory compliance
• Partner with dispatchers, drivers, and operations managers to schedule and review ride-alongs
• Train, evaluate, and re-certify drivers on the Savage Safe Driving Program (SPACE)
• Promote safety systems like SHAPS and Better Way
• Support drivers on both day and night shifts
• Track ride-along progress in spreadsheets and report results to leadership
• Be an expert in safe driving practices that improve fuel efficiency and reduce risk
• Audit training paperwork for 100% compliance

Job: Driving Specialist

Location: Elko, NV

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 annually

Days/Hours: Mon-Fri, 8 am-5 pm

What you will be doing

• Conduct ride-alongs with drivers to observe, coach, and train for safety and performance
• Evaluate new team members with DOT pre-hire ride-alongs
