Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Driver Trainee to learn the essential functions of the Driver role, with exposure to warehouse operations and safety standards.

You will train to operate a tractor-trailer, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and document deliveries using the DDH, all while aligning with company policies. Starting pay during training is $24.25 per hour, and after completing training drivers typically earn $75,000–$110,000 annually.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Be at least 21 years old.
• Complete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks.
• Able to load/unload and deliver ALL products as ordered by McLane customers.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.

Responsibilities

• Learn essential functions of the Driver role and gain exposure to warehouse and operational tasks.
• Operate tractor-trailer safely and in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Inspect equipment before and after trips and submit DOT inspection reports.
• Use Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to document receipts and temperatures.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn driving regulations, starting engine, turns, and parking.
• Maintain driver logs per DOT regulations and document delivery details.
• Assist in unloading and delivering product to customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
