Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Driver Trainee to learn the essentials of operating a tractor-trailer and delivering products to various customer locations. You will gain exposure to warehouse and other operational functions during the developmental process toward becoming a McLane Driver.

This role emphasizes safety, compliance with DOT regulations, and hands-on training with a Driver Trainer to develop driving skills and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and comprehend labels, instructions and bills of lading.
• Strong math skills to verify quantities of product.
• Able to communicate with customers, management and teammates.
• Readiness to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend and stoop to perform duties.
• Completion of training to obtain Class A CDL within 6 months or less.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in compliance with laws and company policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer for defects before and after trips and file inspection reports.
• Use DDH to document deliveries, temps, and exceptions.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn driving regulations and operations.
• Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations.
• Assist in unloading trailer and delivering products to customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
