Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is hiring a Driver Trainee to learn essential truck operations and the distribution of products to customer locations. You will gain exposure to warehouse functions during the developmental process toward becoming a McLane Driver.

The pay rate during training is $22.25 per hour, with day-one benefits including medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, life insurance, holidays, vacation, sick leave, and more. You will train and progress toward earning a Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Complete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less.
• Ability to read and comprehend labels, instructions and bills of lading.
• Communicate with customers, management and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in accordance with regulations and policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT reports.
• Operate driver handheld, document receipts and temperatures, note exceptions.
• Train with Driver Trainer, observe driving operations and regulations.
• Maintain driver log according to DOT rules.
• Assist in unloading and delivering products to customer premises.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
