Job description

Quality Carriers, Inc. (QC), headquartered in Tampa, FL, is North America's largest bulk liquid chemical carrier. Through a network of more than 100 terminals and facilities, we transport a broad range of chemical products and provide our customers with value-added transportation services.

Position Overview

The Driver Manager is a critical member of the Quality Carriers team. This position is responsible for managing relationships with an assigned group of drivers to ensure a positive driver experience. The Driver Manager also makes recommendations regarding driver terminals to the Terminal Manager and is responsible for assessing driver and tractor capacity daily, impacting revenue and asset utilization.

Essential Functions

1. Collaborate with assigned drivers daily to maximize their hours and earnings while maintaining their standard of living.
2. Coordinate with the Maintenance facility to ensure all drivers and tractors are in excellent repair and compliant with all regulations and QC standards.
3. Maintain a driver calendar to manage time off requests and compliance-related absences.
4. Ensure drivers' hours of service are accurately updated in the Peoplenet system and make authorized updates as needed.
5. Counsel drivers on safety, compliance, and service issues, documenting all counseling sessions.
6. Ensure completion of all monthly Infiniti training and coordinate additional refreshers based on driver performance.
7. Assist Independent Contractors (ICs) in making informed business decisions regarding freight acceptance and repair costs.
8. Coordinate with the Dispatch Analyst (DA) to meet priorities daily.
9. Work with the Terminal Manager to develop disciplinary actions in accordance with QC SOPs and promote driver and IC growth.

Skill / Knowledge Requirements

• Effective communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; 2-year business degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience in the bulk transportation industry.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements and safety procedures.
• Proficiency in Word & Excel.
