Job summary

NC Department of Transportation—District 6 (Stanly County) seeks a Driver Education Program Specialist to train and certify school bus drivers, deliver classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, and ensure compliance with state and county laws. The role includes provider training, inspections, and reporting obligations.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree with two years of related experience and CDL endorsements (P and S) for at least two years; willingness to undergo background checks;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with two years related experience or an equivalent combination.
• Classroom instruction experience required or preferred.
• Auditing experience and knowledge of DMV processes are a bonus.
• CDL with P and S endorsements for at least 2 years required or preferred.
• Experience ins pecting school buses and training instructors is valued.

Responsibilities

• Train and certify school bus drivers in classroom and behind the wheel.
• Lead driver improvement clinics and conduct vision/medical screenings.
• Provide training and certification for CDL instructors and inspect training schools/vehicles.
• Investigate complaints involving commercial driver training schools.
• Maintain reports and submit weekly DMV central office reports.
