Job summary

MTM Transit in Austin, Texas, is hiring full-time drivers to provide safe, reliable transportation for our communities. Beginning training classes start every Monday, with a focus on customer service, safety, and efficient operations.

Join MTM Transit and CapMetro to help remove barriers to mobility. You’ll use tablets, GPS, and radios to support on-time pickups and courteous service for riders, including older adults and people with disabilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid US driver’s license for 3 years.
  • Texas driver’s license or able to obtain within 3 months.
  • No DUI or DWI in past 10 years.
  • No more than 1 moving violation in 3 years, 2 in 5 years.
  • Must pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
  • Must pass TX DPS MVR background check.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Resume with at least 10 years of work history.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrate defensive driving skills.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with passenger loading and unloading from vehicle.
  • Assist with mobility devices and securement as required for safety protocols.
  • Ensure on-time pick-up and drop-off of the customer.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities.
  • Complete thorough vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections; complete required paperwork.
  • Utilize tablets or electronic devices as required.

What you’ll need:
  • Experience, Education & Certifications: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must possess a continuously valid US driver’s license for 3 years
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • No DUI or DWI convictions in the past 10 years
  • No more than 1 suspension, moving violation, or citation within the last 3 years – no more than 2 within past 5 years
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
  • Must pass criminal background check investigation including a TX DPS MVR
  • Valid authorization to work in the United States
  • Must provide a resume with a minimum of 10 years work history
Skills:
  • Ability to use a tablet, GPS, two-way radio, or other electronic device
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate with others and comprehend instructions
  • Ability to understand highway traffic signs, signals, maps, manifests, and schedules
  • Ability to obtain knowledge of FTA, ADA, and DOT regulations
  • Familiarity with the main roadways and major highways in the service area
What You’ll Do:
  • Provide safe and reliable transportation
  • Demonstrate excellent defensive driving skills
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Must assist with passenger loading and unloading from vehicle
  • Must assist with any mobility device and securement as required for safety protocols
  • Ensure the on-time pick-up and drop off of the customer
  • Demonstrates understanding and sensitivity to the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities
  • Complete thorough vehicle pre-trip, post-trip, and DVI inspections as required
  • Complete paperwork as required
  • Utilize tablets or electronic devices as required
