Job summary

MTM Transit in Salem, OR is hiring full-time drivers to operate ADA Paratransit, Shop & Ride and Fixed Regional routes. Training classes start every other week at 2195 Hyacinth NE, Salem, OR.

You will provide safe transportation, assist passengers, and ensure on-time pickups with a focus on accessibility for older adults and individuals with disabilities. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 21+ years old, and a valid Oregon Class B CDL with passenger endorsement or ability to

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrate defensive driving skills.
  • Provide excellent customer service to stakeholders.
  • Assist with passenger loading and unloading.
  • Assist with mobility device and securement as required for safety protocols.
  • Ensure on-time pick-up and drop-off.
  • Complete vehicle inspections and required paperwork.
  • Utilize tablets or electronic devices as required.

MTM Transit, in partnership with the Salem Area Mass Transit, is looking for Full Time Drivers to operate the ADA Paratransit, Shop & Ride and Fixed Regional routes in Salem, OR. Hourly Rate

$22.51 per hour

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must possess a valid Oregon Class B CDL with passenger endorsement or ability to obtain Valid U.S. Driver's License for the past 5 years
  • No more than five (5) moving violations in three (3) years
  • No more than two (2) at-fault or chargeable accidents in the past five (5) years
  • No suspension or revocations of driving privileges within the past (5) years (This does not pertain to any commercial or CDL downgrades.)
  • No conviction in the last 10 years of: a felony, drug and alcohol offense. Reckless driving, hit & run, leaving the scene of an accident, negligent driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, vehicular assault or homicide.
  • No DWI/DUI charges
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
  • Must pass criminal background check investigation & Motor Vehicle record check
  • Valid authorization to work in the United States
  • Must provide a resume with a minimum of 10 years work history
Skills
  • Ability to use a tablet, GPS, two-way radio, or other electronic device
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate with others and comprehend instructions
  • Ability to understand highway traffic signs, signals, maps, manifests, and schedules
  • Ability to obtain knowledge of FTA, ADA, and DOT regulations
  • Familiarity with the main roadways and major highways in the service area
What You’ll Do
  • Provide safe and reliable transportation
  • Demonstrate excellent defensive driving skills
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Must assist with passenger loading and unloading from vehicle
  • Must assist with any mobility device and securement as required for safety protocols
  • Ensure the on-time pick-up and drop off of the customer
  • Demonstrates understanding and sensitivity to the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities
  • Complete thorough vehicle pre-trip, post-trip, and DVI inspections as required
  • Complete paperwork as required
  • Utilize tablets or electronic devices as required
