Job summary

Sonic Drive-In Gilbert, AZ is seeking a General Manager to lead a fast-paced drive-in and ensure an exceptional guest experience. You will drive operations, coach crew and carhops, and manage staffing and schedules.

This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, plus knowledge of labor laws and basic accounting. You will build marketing plans and drive sales through hands-on coaching and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Advanced studies in business, restaurant management or related fields preferred.
• Minimum of two years restaurant management experience (QSR preferred), experience running shifts without supervision.
• Must work a minimum 5-day workweek with 4 closing shifts (or 4-day week) including irregular hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing and selection practices.
• Knowledge of federal and state labor laws, plus local health and sanitation regulations.
• Leadership and supervisory skills; strong verbal and written communication.
• Basic accounting and computer skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work with autonomy; multi-task and solve problems.
• Willingness to abide by SONIC appearance, uniform and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Manages, trains, monitors and coaches Crew/Team members, Carhops and Skating Carhops.
• Directs shifts to ensure all aspects of food service meet standards.
• Adheres to and enforces employee handbook policies and practices.
• Performs restaurant opening and/or closing duties.
• Prepares employee work schedules and adjusts staffing levels.
• Monitors inventory and places orders within cost control procedures.
• Completes payroll and employment-related records.
• Reinforces a customer service focus for all staff.
• Resolves guest requests promptly and reports complaints.
• Interviews and hires staff to maintain proper staffing levels.
• Prepares operational reports and develops action plans for trends.
• Develops and implements marketing plans.
