Job summary

Plantible Foods seeks a Project Engineer Downstream for Capital Projects in Austin, TX. You will own the engineering and field execution of downstream systems—from biomass handling to purification and packaging—ensuring safety, quality, and operability.

You will bridge process experts with external engineers, vendors, and on-site teams, coordinating multidisciplinary scopes and driving decisions to closure while tracking schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in industrial capital projects in hygienic environments such as food/biotech.
• Experience delivering downstream unit operations from design through startup.
• Ability to read and challenge PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specs.
• Willingness to spend significant time onsite during construction, commissioning and startup.

Responsibilities

• Translate requirements into scopes for engineering partners and vendors.
• Coordinate disciplines (process, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical, controls).
• Lead design reviews with SMEs and external engineers.
• Drive decisions to closure and maintain the project schedule.
• Plan commissioning and startup activities with Operations.
