Job summary

Plantible Foods Austin, Texas is seeking a Downstream Project Engineer for Capital Projects to own engineering and field execution of biomass processing systems. You will bridge process experts and vendors, coordinating disciplines from design through startup, ensuring safety, hygienic design, and reliable operation in a growing facility.

You’ll lead design reviews, develop scopes for equipment, review PFDs/PDs, and manage interfaces with upstream/downstream operations, utilities, and site

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 5–10+ years of experience on industrial capital projects in hygienic process-manufacturing environments.
• Experience delivering process equipment through specification, vendor selection, and startup.

Responsibilities

• Translate requirements into clear scopes for external engineering partners.
• Coordinate multi-discipline interfaces (process, mechanical, piping, civil, structural, electrical, controls).
• Lead design reviews with subject-matter experts, Operations, and external engineers.
• Develop and review Basis of Design documents, equipment lists, and utility requirements.
• Develop technical scopes and bid packages for equipment and systems.
• Maintain onsite presence during construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Ensure systems meet capacity, performance, quality, and reliability targets.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Bioengineering, Food Engineering, or related engineering discipline
