Job summary

Plantible is hiring a Downstream Project Engineer to own the engineering and field execution of biomass-to-product systems. You will bridge process experts and facility designers, coordinating process, mechanical, piping, and controls across the project lifecycle.

You will drive scope, deliverables, and interfaces, lead design reviews, and ensure safety, hygienic design, and reliable startup across FEL, FEED, and commissioning phases at our Austin facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Bioengineering, Food Engineering, or related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Translate requirements from Plantible’s Engineering, R&D, Operations, Maintenance, and Food Safety teams into clear scopes and deliverables for external engineering partners and vendors.
• Coordinate disciplines required for systems (process, mechanical, piping, civil, structural, electrical, controls, utilities, and facility infrastructure).
• Understand interfaces, assign owners, and drive technical decisions to closure.
• Maintain engineering deliverables, decisions, dependencies, risks, and open items against the project schedule.
• Surface gaps early; avoid “Waiting on Engineering” as a project plan.
• Lead design reviews with internal experts and external engineers.
• Challenge designs for safety, operability, maintainability, hygienic design, cost, and complexity.
• Develop basis of design documents, equipment lists, utility requirements, layouts, specifications, drawings, and other core deliverables.
• Develop technical scopes and bid packages for equipment and systems.
