Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a dorm supervisor to oversee approximately 5-15 students on a floor/wing within a residential program. You will ensure safety, encourage independence, and support daily living skills while guiding students in appropriate conduct and routines.

Responsibilities include documenting incidents, enforcing the code of conduct, and communicating with parents and staff about student welfare.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma, or equivalent GED, and three years of successful work experience providing supervision of children in a caregiving capacity.
• Preferred experience with special needs children who have developmental or sensory disabilities; Associate's Degree and one year of supervision experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and monitors student behavior and location, including enforcement of the Student Code of Conduct.
• Documents and reports student discipline, behavior, and injury problems, following up to ensure outcomes.
• Teaches personal hygiene, independent living skills, and study habits; assists with dorm care and grooming.
• Ensures safety and security of students and administers basic first aid as needed.
• Participates in leisure and cultural activities and supports problem-solving guidance for students.
• Maintains communication with parents and staff regarding student welfare.
