Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a dedicated dorm supervisor to oversee a floor/wing of students in a residential program. The role involves ensuring safety, supervising daily activities, and guiding students toward independent living habits.

The position requires enforcing the Student Code of Conduct, documenting incidents, and maintaining open communication with parents and staff to support student welfare and development.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and three years of supervision of children in a caregiving capacity.
• Preferred experience with special needs children who have developmental or sensory disabilities; Associate's Degree with one year of supervision experience.
• May require communication modalities dependent upon employment placement.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and monitors student behavior and location, including enforcement of the Student Code of Conduct.
• Documents and reports student discipline, behavior, and injury problems, following up to ensure outcomes per policies.
• Teaches personal hygiene, behavior, independent living skills, study habits, and dorm care.
• Ensures safety and security; reports unsafe conditions and administers basic first aid when needed.
• Supervises leisure and cultural activities; assists with lifting, restraining, and transporting students as needed.
• Communicates with parents and staff regularly about student needs and welfare.
