Job summary

This is a contract, on-site Door Unloader / Construction Site Material Handler position based in Hermiston, OR. The role involves unloading doors, frames, windows and related products, staging materials, and supporting installation teams with safe material handling.

You will wear a hard hat, boots, and high-visibility clothing on active job sites. Shifts are approximately four hours, one to two days per week, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-paced construction

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and work with a team for heavier items.
  • Comfortable outdoors in varying weather and active construction environments.
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods during four-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Unload and stage doors, frames, windows, and hardware.

  • Verify shipments against packing slips and report discrepancies.

Job description

Job Title: Door Unloader / Construction Site Material Handler

This true temporary role focuses on safely unloading and handling construction materials at active job sites. You work short shifts of approximately four hours at a time for one to two days per week, supporting installation teams by ensuring doors, frames, windows, and related building products are correctly received, staged, and ready for use. You must provide and wear a hard hat, work boots, and high-visibility clothing while working in a new construction environment.

Responsibilities
  • Unload trailers carrying construction materials, including doors, door frames, windows, hardware, and other building products.
  • Move, stage, and distribute materials throughout the job site according to project requirements and installation plans.
  • Verify incoming shipments against packing slips and promptly report any shortages, discrepancies, or damaged materials.
  • Organize and maintain material storage areas to support a safe, efficient, and orderly work environment.
  • Lift, carry, and position large or heavy materials, using team lifting practices for heavier items.
  • Communicate with site supervisors, project leaders, and installation crews to coordinate deliveries and material placement.
  • Follow all job site safety policies, procedures, and protocols at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including removing debris and keeping pathways clear.
  • Use hand tools, pallet jacks, dollies, and other material-handling equipment safely and correctly.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced construction site environment while keeping projects organized and on schedule.

  • Experience with general labor, loading, unloading, and warehouse operations (preferred).
  • Ability to use pallet jacks, dollies, and basic hand tools for material handling tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in construction, warehouse, material handling, or general labor roles is preferred.
  • Experience handling commercial doors, frames, windows, or similar construction materials is an asset.
  • Familiarity with construction sites, job site workflows, and safety protocols is beneficial.
  • Forklift experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Production or warehouse operation experience related to loading and unloading materials is advantageous.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
