Job summary

Midwest Transplant Network seeks a Donor Family Coordinator to assess donor eligibility, liaise with families, and manage the authorization process. You will travel to satellite sites to engage with families and referents, ensuring timely communication and documentation.

You will maintain a rotating on-call schedule, support the Donor Family team, and collaborate with Hospital Services to protect donor and LNOK interests while upholding MTN policies.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required; preferred focus of study in biological or social sciences, RN, social work or other allied health certification.
• 3-5 years experience in a professional position in a medical environment preferred.
• Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and participate in 24-hour call. Must be available on non-call days if needed.
• Detail oriented, organized, excellent tracking/reporting skills, effective written and verbal communication.
• Microsoft Office proficiency required.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation; travel within service area.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates potential donors and assists referring staff.
• Maintains an on-call schedule of approximately twelve to fifteen 24-hour call days per month (50% call).
• Travels to satellite locations to evaluate potential donors and speak with families.
• Coordinates authorization process and offers donation opportunities with authorizing individuals.
• Provides authorization disclosure to authorizing individual/LNOK.
• Supports Donor Families/LNOK/Authorizing Individuals throughout and after donation as needed.
• Advocates for donation and brain death testing to maximize outcomes.
• Communicates assessments and plans with Hospital Services and MTN stakeholders.
