Job summary

Mid-America Transplant is seeking a Triage Coordinator to support our life-saving mission. You will speak with donor families and healthcare professionals to assess medical suitability for donation, collect and enter referral information, and compile donor medical histories.

In a collaborative call center setting, you will navigate EMR systems, obtain Donor Risk Assessment Interviews, and coordinate with hospitals, funeral homes, and medical examiners to ensure timely donor processing.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a medical environment or emergency response role required.
• Background in and understanding of medical terminology.
• Ability to navigate various EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Collect hospital and patient information and pre-screening criteria on all incoming donor calls.
• Obtains and enters accurate referral information into the referral database.
• Conducts conversation with appropriate family member to accurately compile the donor’s social and medical history.
• Obtain Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI) over the telephone and compile hospital medical records into the electronic record system.
• Navigates through electronic medical records and the ability to understand and connect complex medical history.
• Screens potential tissue donor with appropriate processor for suitability.
• Communicates with Funeral Homes, Hospitals, and Medical Examiners/Coroners to ensure timely release of potential donors.
