Job summary

American Red Cross in Richmond, VA is seeking a Blood Collection Staff member to assist with the blood collection process, interact with donors, and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Paid phlebotomy training is provided. The role supports lifesaving blood donations and requires flexibility for early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

You will work with a team at local collection sites to create a welcoming environment and meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication required.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for long periods.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Healthcare or phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all steps of the blood collection process.
• Transport and set up equipment at collection sites.
• Create a welcoming environment for donors.
• Follow safety procedures to protect donors and staff.
• Explain donation impact to donors.
• Support team to encourage repeat donations.
• Be detail oriented to meet collection goals and regulatory standards.
