Job summary

Vapor Thrift Store in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Receiving Associate to help drive store profitability by greeting donors, sorting donations and selecting sellable items.

You will unload donor vehicles, inspect items, maintain a clean donation area, and assist with opening/closing duties. The role requires lifting 50+ pounds, working outdoors in all weather, and enforcing store policies with courtesy and respect.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills with a positive, upbeat demeanor.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to repeatedly lift 50+ pounds unassisted.
• Able to pleasantly enforce store policies with donors.
• Strong attention to safety and cleanliness of donation areas.
• This position requires 32–40 hours per week and minimal local travel.

Responsibilities

• Greet donors and treat them with respect and joy.
• Sort donations and select sellable items for the floor.
• Assist customers and answer questions about donations.
• Unload donor vehicles quickly and safely.
• Inspect items for quality and proper placement.
• Maintain a clean, organized donation area throughout the day.
• Open/close the store when scheduled; complete opening/closing checklists.
• Manage trash/recycling and exterior cleanliness.
