Job summary

America's Thrift Stores is seeking a reliable Distribution Shipping/Receiving Team Member for our Birmingham, AL distribution center. You will handle receipt, inspection, and documentation of goods, and prepare orders for shipment with accuracy and speed.

Responsibilities include unloading, labeling, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining inventory. Forklift operation and basic shipping software familiarity are beneficial.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• Prior experience in warehouse, distribution, or shipping/receiving roles is preferred.
• Operation of warehouse equipment; forklift certification is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with shipping software.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Unload incoming shipments from trucks and trailers.
• Inspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders, packing lists, and inspect clothes and other items.
• Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment for customer specifications.
• Label and process shipments using appropriate shipping software.
• Coordinate with shipping carriers to ensure timely and accurate dispatch of orders.
• Organize and maintain inventory within the warehouse, performing regular counts and audits.
• Assist with inventory management tasks, such as stock rotation and replenishment.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, keeping work areas neat and clean.
• Comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, safely and efficiently.
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on equipment.
• Consolidate goods and operate baling equipment.
• Identify and sort materials into different categories.
• Adapt to changing priorities throughout the day as production adjusts.
• Prep and organize products for shipping, packaging finished products accordingly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
