Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in South Lyon, MI is seeking a part-time Donation Processing Associate to assist donors, process donations, and maintain an organized donation area. The role requires strong English communication and basic math, with a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Paid training will cover donation processes and store procedures, and there is opportunity to develop retail and customer service skills while supporting community programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or currently pursuing.
• Strong English communication for donor and team interactions.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background check.
• Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Provide donor service by greeting donors and offering assistance.
• Process and track donations accurately.
• Maintain a clean and organized donation area.
• Sort, load, and unload Salvation Army trucks per center policy.
• Power sort donations as they arrive (where applicable).
• Support production processes as needed.
• Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.
• Report any complaints, damage, or injuries occurring in the donation area.
• Guide donors on acceptable materials and provide information about pickup services for heavy items.
