Job Description: Calibration Technician C (Active Duty Military Candidates Only)

Position Overview

The Calibration Technician C applies knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment across various disciplines, including acoustical, chemical, dimensional, DC/Low Frequency, RF/microwave, fluid, mechanical, optical, thermodynamics, and time & frequency, ensuring measurement accuracy. The technician identifies and uses manual and automated measurement procedures.

This position typically requires minimal instruction, with the technician applying job skills, company policies, and procedures to complete a wide range of complex tasks. The role involves judgment in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. The technician may also perform laboratory housekeeping and administrative duties and report opinions and interpretations as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) in various disciplines to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain primary, secondary, and working calibration standards.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of precision equipment.
  • Develop calibration procedures based on technical requirements.
  • Collect, record, and analyze calibration data.
  • Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective actions.
  • Prepare calibration reports and certificates.
  • Adapt calibration equipment and techniques for unique measurement tasks.
  • Perform uncertainty evaluations for measurement standards.
  • Train subordinates in calibration concepts and procedures.
  • Interact with technicians, customer service, account managers, and customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math, algebra, and understanding of statistics.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Technical writing ability.
  • Intermediate troubleshooting, repair, and calibration skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • At least three years of calibration experience or formal metrology training.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and ANSI Z540 standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and attention to detail skills.
  • Self-motivated team player following written procedures.
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Occasional standing and bending.
Working Environment

Primarily laboratory or manufacturing setting at a SIMCO location and/or customer sites. Travel may be required domestically and internationally.
