Job summary

The University of Michigan seeks a Doctoral Programs Coordinator in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Dearborn to coordinate doctoral program activities, benchmark data, and help develop policies for doctoral programs. The role supports data-driven decision-making and liaises with Graduate Studies, Rackham, and other units to implement CECS initiatives.

Under supervision by the ADGER, the coordinator manages open houses, orientation, annual reviews, surveys, and templates;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Analytical skills in support of managing data-driven frameworks and processes for decision-making.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports, policies, and correspondence; ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to be proactive and work effectively toward solutions.
• Excellent ability to work effectively with academic leadership, faculty, staff, and students in a professional and confidential manner.
• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to implement projects from initiation to completion.
• Demonstrated ability to work quickly and effectively under tight time constraints.
• General knowledge of University of Michigan-Dearborn policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• With emphasis on doctoral programs, support the activities of the CECS Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Research by performing a range of ongoing and varied activities including.
• 35% - Implement CECS strategic initiatives related to doctoral education and oversee projects with CECS leadership, faculty, staff and students.
• 30% - Provide central doctoral program support services including admissions coordination and non-academic advising on leaves, changes of advisor, and orientation.
• Conduct annual reviews, exit surveys, and serve as primary contact for doctoral program surveys with Graduate Studies and other offices.
• Interface with Graduate Studies, International Affairs, the Registrar, and update all doctoral program templates.
• Support ENGR 700 and CECS Doctoral Committee meetings, GSI training and related activities.
• 15% - Coordinate assessment of CECS doctoral programs; organize metrics for success and prepare leadership-friendly summaries.
• 10% - Manage the interface between Rackham PhD programs and Rackham.
• 5% - Benchmark doctoral programs relative to peer institutions.
• 5% - Other duties as assigned.
