Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to safely load and unload freight, operate forklifts and pallet jacks, and support overall warehouse functions. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and timely deliveries across service centers.

Ideal candidates will have a high school degree and experience with freight forms, shipping labels, and dockyard systems, with a strong work ethic and reliability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiarity with freight forms and shipping docs helpful.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual methods according to DOT rules.
• Read shipping labels and interpret freight documents and manifests.
• Secure freight inside trailers with straps and airbags to prevent damage.
• Operate and monitor the dock yard management system for location tracking.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping in the service center to meet deadlines.
