Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to safely load and unload freight, support warehouse operations, and help ensure on-time deliveries. The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards in a fast-paced service center.

The position requires knowledge of lifting and freight handling, the ability to read shipping orders, and the use of dock yard management tools. Strong English communication is essential for daily operations and safety.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must have knowledge of different loading techniques such as loading tight and cross loading.
• Must be available for work at all times to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a motorized forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Use loading techniques, such as loading tight or cross loading.
• Transport self and/or freight throughout the service center.
• Monitor freight shipment locations using the dock yard management system.
• Read and interpret shipping labels.
• Complete forms used in freight movement (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills, reports).
• Hand load, rewrap or stack freight as necessary.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
