Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to safely load and unload freight, securing cargo and ensuring on-time delivery. The role requires operating forklifts, pallet jacks and manual methods within DOT guidelines, while reading labels and completing associated shipping documents.

The successful candidate will be reliable, physical, and able to work in a fast-paced service center environment, contributing to OD's trusted logistics network and customer promises.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must have working knowledge of procedures surrounding all aspects of freight transportation.
• Must be available for work at all times to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a motorized forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with state and federal DOT guidelines.
• Transport self and/or freight throughout the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight movement forms as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or ropes.
• Maintain safe, on-time delivery to customers.
