Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to load and unload freight safely using forklifts and manual methods in a fast-paced service center. You will read shipping labels, secure cargo, and help ensure on-time deliveries while adhering to DOT guidelines.

A high school degree is required; familiarity with dock yard management systems and forklift operation is preferred. You will contribute to a team-driven OD family culture and participate in safety programs to maintain

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Experience with safe, efficient lifting and transporting procedures preferred.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms such as bills of lading and manifests.
• Ability to operate a dock-yard management system for shipment locations.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts or manually per DOT guidelines.
• Use various loading techniques and cross loading.
• Transport personnel and freight within the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Monitor freight locations with the Dock Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and freight documents.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and airbags.
• Maintain quality loading of all trailers and meet customer delivery schedules.
