Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to assist with loading and unloading freight at our service centers. You will operate a forklift or pallet jack, secure loads, and ensure adherence to state and federal safety guidelines.

This role emphasizes accuracy, speed, and teamwork to keep customer shipments on schedule. We value a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to read shipping documentation.

Qualifications

• Education: High school degree or equivalent.
• Experience: Knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Experience: Knowledge of freight loading techniques including tight and cross loading.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms such as bills and manifests.
• Ability to monitor shipment locations using yard management systems.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack, or manually per DOT guidelines.
• Transport self and freight across the service center on various surfaces.
• Monitor freight shipment locations with the Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and complete forms for freight movement.
• Hand load, rewrap, or stack freight as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope.
• Maintain safety and accuracy to ensure on-time deliveries.
