Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to safely load and unload freight, ensuring correct items go on the right trucks and secure them for transport.

The role requires operating forklifts or pallet jacks, following DOT guidelines, and using the dock yard management system to monitor shipment locations while maintaining a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiarity with freight movement documents (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills, reports).
• Ability to monitor shipment locations using the dock yard management system.
• Willingness to operate forklifts and hand-held devices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklift, pallet jack, or manual methods.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and freight forms.
• Ensure quality loading of all trailers and safe handling of freight.
• Use dock yard management system to track shipments across the service center.
