Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dockworker to load and unload freight with safety and efficiency. The role uses forklifts and manual techniques to move goods, secure cargo, and ensure correct placement on trucks within the service center.

The ideal candidate has basic education and knowledge of freight processes, loading techniques, and yard management systems. Expect a fast-paced environment, with shifts that support customer pickup and delivery schedules.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Must have working knowledge of safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must have knowledge of different loading techniques such as loading tight and cross loading.
• Familiarity with dock yard management systems and freight forms.
• Ability to work all shifts to meet customer schedules.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack or manually in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Transport self and freight throughout the service center.
• Monitor freight locations using the dock yard management system.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and freight documents.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and airbags.
• Ensure quality loading of all trailers and proper securing of cargo.
