Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dockworker to efficiently load and unload freight, ensuring items go on the correct trailers and safety is prioritized. You will operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual handling methods to move goods within a service center.

You will read shipping labels, complete movement forms, and secure loads with straps and airbags. You will monitor shipment locations with the dock yard management system to help ensure on-time deliveries.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiar with freight forms such as shipping orders and freight bills.
• Ability to operate dock yard management systems for tracking shipments.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklift, pallet jack, or manually.
• Use various loading techniques, including tight and cross loading.
• Secure freight inside trailers with straps, rope, and other supplies.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight movement forms as needed.
• Monitor freight locations using the dock yard management system.
